Ajax Dry Type Transformers and Construction
"Manufactured to Industry Standards... Your Assurance of Quality."
Ajax dry type units are manufactured with the highest quality materials available. The numerous quality control checks performed during the manufacturing process, plus final stage testing to applicable ANSI and NEMA standards, ensures that all units will provide years of trouble free operation.
Coils
Copper magnet wire or strip foil used exclusively on all windings. Copper provides numerous advantages, such as: reliability of connections, superior conductivity, better regulation, lower temperature rise and smaller physical size. All transformers manufactured for 600 volts and below are designed to withstand the NEMA standard BIL rating of 10 KV. High voltage transformers are designed to withstand 2.5 times the high voltage winding.
Insulation System
U.L. class "R" 220°C Insulation System (150°C rise). Materials used in this insulation system provide extremely high resistance to moisture and other corrosive elements as well as excellent flame resistance and bonding properties, all adding measurably to the longevity of the coils.
Core
For larger units we precision cut the finest grade of silicon coated grain oriented steel. Smaller units are assembled using top quality E-I stamped laminations. Careful hand stacking and laminating helps reduce potential noise and increases efficiency.

Assembly
Core and coils are assembled by experienced personnel according to engineering specifications and then sealed in an extremely high bond strength black varnish overcoat which provides additional solidity and noise reduction to the completed unit. Suitable terminal blocks, copper busbar or flexible leads are designed into each unit unless a customer designated termination set-up is specified.
Enclosures
We carry a complete line of floor & wall mount NEMA 1 enclosures. Some enclosures are stackable or can be placed on casters. Bottom screening is provided to prevent small animals and rodents from entering the interior of the enclosure. Rubber mounting pads isolate the unit from the enclosure providing increased noise and vibration dampening.
Options
Some of the more popular options offered are: electrostatic shielding, temperature cut-off switches, designs for 25 and 50 hertz operation, fuse block and circuit breaker protection, designs for 55°C, 80°C and 155°C rise and NEMA type 3R, 4 and 12 enclosures.
